Mission Statement
The IDEA League is a network of five leading universities of technology and science. Our joint
activities in education, research, innovation and quality assurance, as well as
our joint participation in EU programmes and initiatives, make us a model of
European cooperation. Together, we create added value by pooling resources for
collaborative and complementary programmes for our students, researchers, and
staff. Our collaboration is driven by the needs of society.
Vision
The world in the 21st Century faces significant environment and resource problems; the solution to these is in the hands of scientists and engineers. No single institution can address these issues alone – collaboration between partners will be essential. The IDEA League (The alliance consists of Imperial College London, TU Delft, ETH Zurich, RWTH Aachen and ParisTech) is a focussed network with an eight-year track-record of collaboration between five university partners, each of which is a leading institution for engineering and technology within its respective country (THES (The Times Higher Education Supplement) World University Rankings, 2005, 2006 and 2007), and prominent in global scientific and industrial consortia. These IDEA League partners share a common culture of first-class research that is science led and technology driven, and building on this, the IDEA League agenda is shaped by the needs and demands of society and industry. Given our experience and expertise, our highly successful partnership, provides a model platform for addressing these European and global issues.
