Christoph Clauser received his Diploma degree (M.Sc.) in Geophysics in 1981 and his Dr. rer. nat. doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Geophysics in 1988, both from the Technical University Berlin. After a one-and-a-half year post-doctoral research period with GSF, a major national research lab (Braunschweig, Germany), he worked for the Geological Survey in Germany from 1989-2000, first as a Senior Researcher, then as Department Head for Geothermics and Groundwater Hydrology.
In 1995, he received his Habilitation doctoral degree (D.Sc.) at the University of Bonn, Germany, where he became an Adjunct Professor of Geophysics. In 2000, he accepted a Professorship in Applied Geophysics at RWTH Aachen University. His current group performs geothermal, petrophysical and log interpretation research, and develops and applies codes for the numerical simulation of forward and inverse problems in reactive flow and transport in geothermal reservoirs.
Since 1995, he has co-supervised 16 Ph.D. and 7 M.Sc. students. He has served on the Editorial Boards of Geothermics (1995-2000) and the Journal of Geodynamics (1993-2001). He has published two books and co-authored ~45 publications in international journals and books as well as ~10 research articles in refereed conference proceedings volumes.
