“Succeeding in Europe” – IDEA League Summer School for doctoral students

40 late-stage doctoral students from all IDEA League partners had a chance to attend a summer school on transferable skills hosted by Imperial College on 8-11 July 2007 in Easthampstead Park, Berkshire.
In experiential learning sessions, each involving a series of group exercises, the summer school covered three key themes:

• Strategies for a successful completion of the PhD
• Career planning
• Intercultural awareness

The summer school offered a unique opportunity to investigate these issues in an international group, exploring the differing approaches of the five institutions and countries represented in the IDEA League.
Not only did the participants learn a lot about international professional development and entrepreneurship, this was also an occasion to network with the IDEA League peers while enjoying a couple of days in a picturesque English country mansion.
