EU-Commissioner Janez Potocnik meets with IDEA League's president Burkhard Rauhut

The visit of EU-Commissioner for Science and Research, Janez Potocnik, on 16 October 2007 to Aachen, Germany, included a visit of RWTH Aachen University. Rector Burkhard Rauhut, who is the president of the IDEA League, welcomed the Commissioner. In his speech Prof. Rauhut emphasized the IDEA League's focus on excellence in collaboration on research, education and innovation.

During the discussion, it was evident that Janez Potocnik is well informed about the IDEA League. He underlined the role that universities are playing in shaping Europe's future. Moreover, he welcomed the IDEA League's concept of added value by pooling the resources of outstanding research and education programs for the creation of a unique, integrated partnership, while also serving as a model of a European cooperation.
