The second IDEA League Summer School will start at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, July 23, thus each participant is expected to arrive in Aachen on Sunday, July 22. From Aachen there will be a shuttle bus to the Summer School venue which is located in a small village named Simonskall. Simonskall is a 41 kilometres drive from Aachen into the Eifel Mountains. The meeting point for the shuttle bus will be in the main hall of Aachen central train station. The buses will leave Aachen central train station at 5:00 p.m. and at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 22 only. Please safeguard that you reach Aachen central train station on time because there is no public transportation to the conference site.

We recommend to land either at Cologne Airport or Düsseldorf Airport from where you can easily reach Aachen by train. Another possibility would be to land at Maastricht Airport from where you could travel to Aachen by bus.

you can easily travel by train from Cologne Airport via Cologne to Aachen central train station. The train station is located underneath the airport. The expected travel time is about 1.5 hours.

From the East

Motorway A4 towards Aachen

Take the exit Düren

Follow B399 towards Monschau

You reach Vossenack after 23 kilometres. When you exit Vossenack, you turn left towards Simonskall. When you enter Simonskall, turn left after 200 metres.

From the West

Motorway A44/E40 towards: Lüttich/Liege

Take the exit towards Aachen-Lichtenbusch/ Monschau

Follow B258 towards Monschau

Pass by Roetgen

When you exit Roetgen, turn left at the restaurant "Fringshaus" towards Lammersdorf. In Lammersdorf, follow towards Rollesbroich and then towards Hürtgenwald. After a few minutes, you turn right towards Simonskall.
