There was a total of eight days of seminars.

The programme started with a “kick-off” event on 20. February 2008 which was followed by the Winter School. Topics of the three-day-seminar included career planning, analysing personal potential, time planning for the mentee’s next career steps and work-life-balance. The trainer Prof. Dr. Christine Färber also gave an introduction into the mentoring scheme.

Besides the training sessions, there was time to socialise and network – a fact highly appreciated by the mentees. As one of them pointed out in the final evaluation, it was a joy for her meeting so many excellent women in the same situation and with similar interests, and “it was good to have the time to think and write down what I want”.

Here are some impressions from the TANDEMplusIDEA Winter School.

The second training session took place at TU Delft from 10. - 12. September 2008. D.J. van den Berg, President of the Executive Board, welcomed the participants to TU Delft and stressed the importance of diverse working groups in science and research. The Summer School then started with an introduction into the topic “Authentic Leadership for Women in Science“.

During the seminar the participants had the chance to become aware of and practice their own leadership styles in discussions and role plays. The trainers Sandra Doelman and Annemarie van Iren also provided background information on influence patterns in organisations, and the role of gender issues.

In the course of the three days there was also time to enjoy the historic city centre of Delft. Again, it was a great opportunity for the participants for exchange and networking, and a number of them repeated how much they appreciated being part of the programme.

Further trainings took place in the framework of the Networking Events in London and Zurich.
